my favourite things/ remembrances

a gift
this photo

it came today

a 'lest we forget'

some 'loving memories'

William Barnard... he died young
and left a wife and two wee ones
years later my mom, Marianne Cossette Marchand Fennings died young
and left a husband and two wee ones
and these two families joined

moms and dads give so much to raise a family

soldiers give so much to allow us this freedom

Jesus says If I make you free
you shall be free indeed

Lord keep us in your ways
Lest we forget

Remembrance
my favourite things
------------------
In Flanders Fields by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

  1. Love getting photos like this . . . so much history and so many memories contained in a few words etched in stone. Really a treasure to be passed on.

    1. I know what you mean Andrea! I was so blessed to get this photo from a niece who had taken her children to visit here. Warmed my heart and swept up a pile of memories.
